Writing
At Croyland Primary School our intent is to build in our pupils a deep understanding of the importance and necessity of written communication and the range of opportunities that become available from being able to write well and effectively.
Writing at Croyland
Reading is at the heart of our writing curriculum with each unit starting from a quality text to read at pleasure, enjoy and explore. Texts are then analysed to explore authors’ choices and children are encouraged to magpie ideas and techniques in order to shape their own writing across the genres. Alongside this we have adopted ‘The Write Way’ which helps to teach the mechanics and style of writing from Year 2 onwards.
Foundation stage and KS1 have adopted the Read, Write Inc scheme to ensure that children develop secure foundations in the basics of early reading and writing skills.
